Long Island Reopens in Phase 2 – Real Estate Guidance

Today, 79 days after Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued the executive order of “New York State on PAUSE,” Long Island has officially entered the second phase of reopening. Real estate is among the select industries included in Phase 2, which allows real estate agents and brokers on Long Island to resume in-person work. Social distancing and wearing masks when appropriate, will remain a priority.

The NYS Empire State Development agency released guidance for real estate when a region achieves Phase 2 status. The guidance for real estate activities in Phase 2 regions can be found by CLICKING HERE. The proprietor/owner of the real estate business, or another party as may be designated by the proprietor/owner (in either case, "the Responsible Parties") shall be responsible for meeting the standards and affirming the Detailed Guidelines. Please note that real estate offices will need to have a business safety plan. The information regarding the plan can be found by CLICKING HERE.

NYSAR has developed a FAQ page specifically addressing questions REALTORS® may have related to the opening of Phase 2 in parts of New York. This includes detailed information on who Phase 2 applies to and where REALTOR® members can find more information regarding requirements and responsibilities before re-opening. Visit the Phase 2 FAQ page HERE.
